Why Refund Sync Matters

When a customer refunds, you need that signal sent back to ad platforms. Without it:

  • Google/Facebook/TikTok still count the refund as a successful conversion
  • Your optimization algorithms train on bad data

ClickerVolt solves this by automatically sending refund signals whenever a refund postback is received.

How It Works

Google Ads

Uses Google's Conversion Adjustments API:

  • Full refunds → RETRACT: Removes the conversion entirely from reporting
  • Partial refunds → RESTATE: Adjusts the conversion value downward

This directly improves Smart Bidding by teaching Google which clicks lead to refunds.

Meta (Facebook)

Sends a custom "ClickerVolt_Refund" event with negative value:

  • Appears in Events Manager alongside standard events
  • Can be used to build "refunder" audiences for exclusion
  • Helps Value Optimization understand true customer value

TikTok

Sends the standard "CancelOrder" event via the Events API:

  • Uses TikTok's native event type (no custom event registration needed)
  • Includes the negative refund value for Value Optimization
  • Helps TikTok's algorithm learn which conversions are reversed
  • Matched using ttclid and profile signals for attribution

  • Create Exclusion Audiences: Exclude users who triggered ClickerVolt_Refund from your targeting
  • Build Lookalikes from Non-Refunders: Create lookalike audiences from purchasers MINUS refunders
  • Value Optimization: The negative value signals help Meta optimize for higher lifetime value customers

To create an exclusion audience: Go to Audiences → Create Custom Audience → Website → Select "ClickerVolt_Refund" event → Save.

TikTok Strategies

  • Value Optimization: TikTok learns from CancelOrder events to avoid similar user patterns
  • Custom Audiences: Build audiences from CancelOrder events for exclusion targeting
  • Campaign Analysis: Compare conversion vs cancellation rates by ad group

Requirements

  • Ad platform account connected in Settings → Ad Platforms
  • Link target configured with conversion tracking enabled
  • Network sending refund postbacks (negative revenue or refund event type)

Transaction Matching

ClickerVolt automatically maintains transaction IDs for matching refunds to original conversions. Even if your affiliate network doesn't provide a transaction ID, ClickerVolt generates a fallback ID based on click and revenue data.
